ComfortArch Baby Pelham
Our ComfortArch Kimblehook features a mullen mouth design with an anatomically positioned port crafted from high-quality German silver. This gentle copper alloy develops a warm, sweet taste when in contact with saliva, encouraging acceptance and relaxation.
The curved mullen design with integrated port provides essential tongue relief while maintaining stability - perfect for horses that tend to play with or resist more mobile mouthpiece designs. The mid-part of the mouthpiece is engineered at a slight angle that rotates to lay flat against the tongue when reins are engaged. This feature encourages the horse to seek contact further encouraging stability.
Pelham combines the action of the double bridle into a single bit amplifying the action of the mouthpiece and providing additional pressure and lift. It offers a high degree of precision and control by exerting pressure on the lips, the chin and somewhat on the poll.
Pelhams can be used with a double rein to separate the lever action of the curb and the snaffle as in the double bridle, or a converter which would mediate the action between the snaffle and the curb rein to somewhere in the middle. The curb chain must be fitted so that shanks cannot move past 45 degrees upon engagement of the reins for correct bit action.
German silver's natural warming properties make it particularly appealing for sensitive horses, while the solid, port-enhanced mouthpiece helps prevent tongue evasions and promotes steadier connection.
We recommend this bit for:
- Horses that need tongue relief but find jointed bits too mobile
- Sensitive mouths that respond well to warmer metal alloys
- Riders seeking clear communication through a stable contact
- Horses needing maximum amount of stability to achieve steadiness
The ComfortArch's thoughtful design ensures optimal comfort and clear communication between horse and rider. Fully dressage legal.
