I'm not sure what is so different about this bit, compared to others I've tried, but it's making a big difference... My horse is noticeably more forward, uphill, and reaching into the contact.
too big, my horse did not respond well
I have a "spicy" quarter horse. I've tried everything. The Calm Blue Baucher Snaffle has been awesome. He has responded well and no longer "fights" the bit. It only took me 9 bits to find what is comfortable for him.
Love these adjustable converters. They are clean, classy and match a dark leather bridle perfectly.
I bought this bit back in July. Recently, the cheek piece locked up and became completely immobile. I reached out to the company last week to let them know. They responded with a canned answer about bit care and storage and told me to try and use some food grade oil to loosen it up. I tried that to give them the benefit of the doubt, but as the cheek piece is really stuck, it didn't help. I responded to let them know their suggestion didn't resolve the issue and haven't heard back since.
I came on the website to find the specs of the bit so I can start looking for a similar replacement that will be more durable. That's when I saw in the reviews that another customer had the exact same issue with the cheek piece. Clearly this is a known issue with this bit design. Evidently, the other reviewer was seamlessly sent a replacement, while I've yet to hear back from the company. Really disappointing that public reviews get good service, while I tried to let the company address the issue privately and get ignored.
The concept and thoughtfulness behind their bit designs and selection really addresses a gap in the market, but it's disappointing that their quality control and customer service misses the mark.
Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to share this, and we’re genuinely sorry for both the issue with the bit and for how this experience felt from your end.
We’d like to sincerely apologise for the delayed response, the reason for this was that we were checking internally with our team before confirming the next steps. That said, we completely understand how the lack of timely communication came across, and we’re sorry for the frustration it caused.
We want to clarify that we have now created a replacement order for you, and a new bit will be sent out. While this issue does not occur frequently, we acknowledge that it can happen with certain pieces, and your feedback is being taken seriously to help us improve our quality checks going forward.
We truly regret that your experience didn’t reflect the care we aim to provide, especially since you reached out to us directly first. Thank you for your honesty and for giving us the opportunity to make this right.
If there’s anything further we can assist with, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
What made me want to purchase an Agador's bit was that I could have the same mouthpiece in different side pieces. For instance, a loose-ring snaffle for the hunters and a pelham for the equitation. What I didn't expect was how much my horse would love it and how great their customer service would be. Thank you
Bit is a great price and it worked well for my horse. One thing to note is that the mouthpiece is very small so you have to find bit guards that protect the lips as it causes small cuts in the corners if you don’t have enough protection there.
Thank you for sharing this and for the honest feedback. We’re really glad to hear the bit worked well for your horse and that they were comfortable in it
You’re absolutely right that fit and protection are so important. Depending on the horse’s mouth and lip sensitivity, some may benefit from additional protection such as bit guards to prevent rubbing at the corners. We always encourage riders to assess fit carefully and make adjustments that best suit their individual horse.
We truly appreciate you taking the time to note this, feedback like yours helps other riders make informed choices and helps us continue to improve.
I tried a different bit first, and it just wasn't my horses jam. He just wanted to crunch and stick his nose out, fighting it. So I returned it to get the other one I had been looking at, that my friend had for her horse. My boy was so much happier. 1st day really wearing it he did obstacles and a gymkhana (both hes super green for) and there was no problem with this bit.
So happy to hear this, thank you for sharing! Finding the right bit really does make all the difference, and it’s wonderful to hear how much more comfortable and settled your boy felt once you made the switch.
The fact that he handled obstacles and a gymkhana on his very first proper day in it, especially being green to both, says a lot. That’s exactly what we hope for: a happier, more confident horse without the fight.
We really appreciate you trusting us and taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review
I now only use these bits for my horse. Wish that you made hackamore combos as well
Wrong bit for my horse. Didn’t even try it. Went through your “easy” return policy and found that yes - I can return it but after paying $112 for the bit which includes tariffs and shipping, which is not refunded, and then having to pay return shipping of $25 my net refund would be about $50. Therefore I kept the bit. Not using it. Pretty upset about your return or exchange policy. Should have read the fine print.
I’m really sorry for the frustration here. I completely understand why seeing a $50 refund on a $112 purchase feels wrong. The reality of international shipping is tough; tariffs and brokerage fees go directly to the government and carriers, and unfortunately, we can’t get those back or refund them once they’ve been paid out.
We do try to offer a few ways to help riders manage these costs. For instance, we offer an 'Opt-in Free Returns' service at checkout. It works like a small protection fee so that if a bit doesn't work out, you don't have to pay a cent in return shipping. For those who prefer not to use that service, we also allow you to ship the bit back yourself to our US warehouse address using your own preferred carrier, which can often be cheaper than our standard return labels.
I’m truly sorry this wasn't clearer during your experience. We’re going to look at how we can make these options and the reality of non-refundable government fees more obvious for our international customers. Since you kept the bit, please let me know if I can help you with a fit consultation or a better rate on a future order to make sure we get the right fit for your horse.

Beautifully made and my horse responded super well to it!
Thank you so much for your kind review!
We’re thrilled to hear that you loved the quality and craftsmanship of the bit, and even more so that your horse responded so well to it. That’s exactly what we strive for, happy, comfortable horses. Thank you for choosing Agador’s!
Excellent materiel, je le recommande vivement
Thank you so much for your feedback.
Nous sommes very happy to hear that you’re pleased with the quality of the material. Votre recommandation means a lot to us, merci for trusting Agador’s !
My horse really likes this bit. He has very sensitive lips and this bit is comfortable for him. It's had to find a mild bit in a 6.5 inch size for my Irish horse who is almost 18 hands.
Thank you so much for your review!
We’re really happy to hear that this bit is comfortable for your horse, especially given his sensitive lips. Finding a mild bit in a 6.5' size can definitely be a challenge, so it’s great to know this one suited your nearly 18-hand Irish horse so well. Thank you for trusting Agador’s, we’re honored to support you and your horse!
I had tried many bits with my boy as he's very picky with the mouthpiece. He seemed happiest in a traditional Waterford full cheek but he still had some resistance. I didn't feel like I'd found the right one yet so I decided to try Agador's ComfortShape full cheek. I can't believe the difference! From the very first ride he's been so happy in it. He's soft and light in the hand without any of the resistance he had with the traditional Waterford. I've officially found "the one".
We’re thrilled to hear what a difference the ComfortShape full cheek has made for your horse. Knowing that he felt happy, soft, and light in the hand from the very first ride, and that the resistance disappeared, is exactly what we hope for with our bits. Finding “the one” is such a great feeling, and we’re honored that Agador’s could be part of that moment for you. Thank you for trusting us!
My young horse has a low palate and thick tongue, and no matter what bit I tried, he would not accept a steady contact. He would evade by curling behind the contact. I initially tried the baucher comfort bit, which he liked, but started leaning heavily on it. This calm blue eggbutt snaffle has been game changer. He is accepting contact happily and is no longer curling behind it. Thank you for making such wonderful bits!
Thank you so much for sharing this, it truly means a lot to us!
We’re so happy to hear that this bit has been a game changer for your young horse. Finding the right solution for horses with a low palate and thicker tongue can be challenging, so it’s incredibly rewarding to know he’s now accepting contact happily and moving forward with confidence. Thank you for trusting us and for your kind words, we’re honored to support you and your horse on this journey!
This bit has been a great choice for my mare. She tends to be sensitive, and she immediately seemed comfortable and willing in this bit. I noticed improved acceptance of the contact, smoother transitions, and a calmer overall feel. It’s well-balanced, nicely finished, and did exactly what I was hoping it would. I’m very pleased with how well my mare goes in it and would confidently recommend it.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
We’re delighted to hear that your mare felt comfortable right away and that you noticed improved contact, smoother transitions, and a calmer ride. Knowing that the bit delivered exactly what you were hoping for, and made a positive difference for a sensitive horse, means a lot to us. We truly appreciate your recommendation and are grateful to be part of your riding journey!
I’ve had my horse for two years now and tried several different bits on him to find one he was truly happy with. From a variety of Winderen bits, to Fager bits, a traditional slowtwist, and everything in between. You could tell he was ok with them but didn’t really like it. So I took the leap because at this point what is one more bit… He was such a happy camper!!! This bit blends quality, thoughtful materials, and ergonomics at a really great price! Will be looking to agadors for all my future bitting needs.
Thank you so much for this incredibly thoughtful review!
We’re truly thrilled to hear how happy your horse is and that you were able to find the bit after such a thorough journey. Knowing that our focus on quality, materials, and ergonomics made a real difference means the world to us. Your trust and kind words motivate us to keep raising the bar. We’re honored to be part of your horse’s comfort and look forward to supporting all your future bitting needs!
I had hoped to replicate the bit my mare had been training in before I purchased her. The previous owner had ridden her in a "comfort-wave" bit from your company. When I placed my order that bit was not available in the 5" size we required. Looking at your photo I thought the BarRelief design closest. My mare doesn't seem to agree. She was very fussy in the BarRelief design and chewed it mercilessly. Concern for her teeth makes me reluctant to try again. I bought 2 bits and would like to return the unused one.
Thank you for sharing your honest feedback, we truly appreciate it. We’re sorry to hear that the BarRelief bit wasn’t the right match for your mare. Every horse has unique preferences, and especially when they’ve been going well in a specific design, even a small change can feel very different to them.
Your concern for her comfort and teeth is completely understandable, and we’re glad you listened to what she was telling you. Regarding the unused bit, we’d be more than happy to help with a return, we have reached out to you on your mail ID regarding the same.
We’re grateful you chose Agador’s and hope we can assist you in finding the right solution for your mare in the future.
My horse seems to like this bit a lot, and he is steadier in the contact than before. I think the mouthpiece design is especially helpful for horses like mine with low palates. Furthermore, shipping and customs from Canada to the U.S were smooth and quick! Would definitely recommend this but and the Agador’s company.
Thank you for such a thoughtful review! We’re so happy to hear that your horse is feeling steadier in the contact and that the mouthpiece design is working well for his low palate, that’s exactly what it’s intended to support.
We’re also glad the shipping and customs process from Canada to the U.S. was smooth and quick. Your recommendation truly means a lot to us. Thank you for choosing Agador’s, and we wish you and your horse many comfortable, confident rides ahead!
So far I really like this bit! I was looking for something a bit softer for my horse. He seems to accept it well and goes into the contact nicely.
Thank you so much for your feedback! We’re glad to hear your horse is accepting the bit well and going comfortably into the contact. Finding something softer that still encourages a steady, relaxed connection can make such a difference, and we’re happy this one is working for you. We appreciate you choosing Agador’s and wish you many happy rides ahead!
Received the bit, haven't tried it yet, the center peice is different than the picture, the picture looks like it's a roller, that is not what I received.
Hi Carol, sorry to hear that. Looking through your order notes we noticed that you've actually ordered the dressage legal version which indeed does not have a roller and has a cannon width of 12mm instead of 10mm and left a review on the regular version with the roller.
You are of course free to exchange the product if that is not what you intended.
I have a young OTTB who is very sensitive and picky about his bits. He was going in a CalmBlue full cheek for a while and he loves it, but as he got stronger we needed stronger breaks. I switched him to this CalmBlue baucher and he goes much more forward into the contact and is more eager to stretch into the bit. Will continue to use Agadors for their wonderful high quality but affordable bits!
Thank you so much for sharing this, we’re thrilled to hear about your OTTB’s progress!
Young, sensitive horses can be so particular about their bits, so it means a lot to know the CalmBlue Baucher helped him feel confident, forward, and happy to stretch into the contact as he’s getting stronger. That’s exactly the balance we aim for: effective communication without compromising comfort.
We’re grateful for your trust in Agador’s and are so happy to be part of your horse’s journey. Wishing you and your OTTB many smooth, successful rides ahead!
My horse tended to be OK with it, but I have a feeling we will go back to the Blue Baucher that I bought from you. A rider knows her horse. This has nothing to do with the beautiful quality of your bits.
Thank you so much for your lovely message and for trusting our bits for your horse. You’re absolutely right, no one knows a horse better than their rider, and we fully support you in choosing what feels best for your partner.
We’re glad to hear you’ve been happy with the quality, and it’s wonderful that the Blue Baucher has been such a good match. If you ever want to explore options or have questions about fit or function, we’re always here to help.
I really appreciate the free returns since it can sometimes be difficult to shop for someone else and get the right size and style! ("someone else" being your picky horse!) I am looking forward to my size exchange to see how my mare responds to her new bit. :)
Thank you so much for your kind words! We totally understand how tricky it can be to shop for our wonderfully particular horses. We're glad our free returns make the process a little easier.
We hope the exchanged size is the perfect fit, and we can’t wait for you to see how your mare responds to her new bit. If you need anything along the way, we’re always here to help.
