The shape, the material and the features of the CalmBlue tongue relief mouthpiece are all centered around creating acceptance, calmness and enhanced communication while minimising any unnecessary pressure.

The Calmblue mouthpiece shape encourages free movement of the tongue and redistributes pressure away from the center of the tongue that many bits with classic link designs create.

The cannons of the bit move independently to create a precision in communication between the rider and the horse.

The CalmBlue mouthpiece is made of sweet iron which releases a sweet taste as it gets in contact with saliva that many horses prefer.

The copper roller on the barrel allows the bit to glide up and down the tongue as reins are engaged more freely without creating additional pressure points.

The baucher or sometimes called hanging cheekpiece creates the most stability of all our cheekpieces and pulls the bit up away from the bars.

The hanging cheek stops the bit from being pulled through the horse’s mouth and is therefore a great alternative to full cheek or even eggbutt bits for younger horses.

This cheekpiece is often used on sensitive young horses or those who prefer bits with bar relief or a negative poll pressure.

Mouthpiece thickness: 10mm

Total Cheekpiece Height: 90mm

Cheekpiece Height Top to Mouthpiece: 50mm

Please note that sweet iron bits oxidise naturally and the blue parts will over time develop a thin layer of rust and turn brown/grey. This is by design as the "rust" is what creates the taste so many horses love.

Calmblue Mouthpiece

The shape, the material and the features of the CalmBlue tongue relief mouthpiece are all centered around creating acceptance, calmness and enhanced communication while minimising any unnecessary pressure. The Calmblue mouthpiece shape encourages free movement of the tongue, minimises any pinching and redistributes pressure away from the center of the tongue that many bits with classic link designs create.

Baucher Cheekpiece

Bauchers or often called hanging cheek snaffles are bits with the most fixed position in the mouth. Contrary to popular belief baucher bits exert no leverage or pressure on the poll. In fact, pressure studies have shown baucher cheekpiece to relieve poll pressure by floating the bridle leathers that attach to the top ring upwards as reins are engaged. The stability of the bit helps with minimising unintended movement and therefore makes riders aids clearer for the horse to understand. Baucher bits are a great choice for less experienced riders and horses or those who prefer maximum stability in the cheekpiece. They often are preferred by nervous horses, horses with sensitive bars and horses that don't like the weight of the bit resting on their tongue.

Sweet Iron

Sweet iron is a blue iron alloy designed to oxidize over time, creating a sweet taste that encourages salivation. As it rusts, it develops a patina that enhances flavor, which many horses find appealing. While sweet iron promotes a moist mouth, it does wear over time and requires maintenance. To care for it, wipe the bit after use to prevent excessive rust buildup, store it in a dry place when not in use, and scrub gently with a cloth or mild abrasive if excessive rust forms.

So far so good! He carries this bit quietly for casual riding. Haven’t taken up consistent contact much as he’s recently off the track.

Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re so glad to hear he’s going well in the bit and staying comfortable in these early days off the track. Wishing you both many happy rides ahead, and we can’t wait to hear how things go once you start taking up more consistent contact.

Calm blue baucher snaffle

My horse absolutely loves this bit. He is a very sensitive Anglo Arab and has always had a tendency to curl and go behind the bit. Within 3 rides of switching to this bit he no longer does this. I’m finally starting to feel him go on the bit. I recommend this for any horse with a sensitive mouth, especially those with a low pallet.

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We're thrilled to hear your sensitive Anglo Arab is thriving in this bit, it’s amazing what the right fit can do, especially for horses who tend to curl or go behind the contact. It’s fantastic that you’re now feeling him come truly onto the bit! We really appreciate the recommendation, especially for horses with a low palate and sensitive mouth. Wishing you both very happy rides!

Beautiful bit

Gorgeous bit but my guy seems to forever his snaffle - he may settle in this but I guess it feels different so he’s having to adjust to it

Thank you for your honest feedback! It’s totally normal for some horses to take a little time adjusting to a new feel, especially if they’ve been used to a snaffle for a while. We're hopeful that with a bit of time, your guy will settle in comfortably. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions along the way, we’re always here to help!
