The shape, the material and the features of the CalmBlue tongue relief mouthpiece are all centered around creating acceptance, calmness and enhanced communication while minimising any unnecessary pressure.

The Calmblue mouthpiece shape encourages free movement of the tongue and redistributes pressure away from the center of the tongue that many bits with classic link designs create.

The cannons of the bit move independently to create a precision in communication between the rider and the horse.

The CalmBlue mouthpiece is made of sweet iron which releases a sweet taste as it gets in contact with saliva that many horses prefer.

The copper roller on the barrel allows the bit to glide up and down the tongue as reins are engaged more freely without creating additional pressure points.

Kimberwick is a curb cheekpiece which is a stronger choice than a typical snaffle but has less leverage and curb pressure than a Pelham.

Calmblue Mouthpiece

The shape, the material and the features of the CalmBlue tongue relief mouthpiece are all centered around creating acceptance, calmness and enhanced communication while minimising any unnecessary pressure. The Calmblue mouthpiece shape encourages free movement of the tongue, minimises any pinching and redistributes pressure away from the center of the tongue that many bits with classic link designs create.

Kimberwick Cheekpiece

The Kimberwick is a versatile cheekpiece that provides mild leverage or direct action if reins sit outside the slots. Designed with slotted rings, it allows for different rein positions to adjust pressure levels, offering more control than a standard snaffle but less than most curb bits. The bit applies pressure to the bars, tongue, and poll, with the curb chain helping to distribute pressure across the jaw.

Sweet Iron

Sweet iron is a blue iron alloy designed to oxidize over time, creating a sweet taste that encourages salivation. As it rusts, it develops a patina that enhances flavor, which many horses find appealing. While sweet iron promotes a moist mouth, it does wear over time and requires maintenance. To care for it, wipe the bit after use to prevent excessive rust buildup, store it in a dry place when not in use, and scrub gently with a cloth or mild abrasive if excessive rust forms.

Made my mouthy horse a dream !!!

I have an ottb mare who was struggling with any sort of contact in her mouth. We tried so many different options; rubber weymouth, a thick two-piece, none of it worked. Head tossing, groaning, resistance.

But this. As soon as I put this in her mouth and she chewed, relaxed, and let out a nice sigh.

Riding her in it was amazing!! She accepted contact no problem. She was so happy and calm. This mouthpiece was a game-changer. Highly recommend!!

We’re over the moon to hear your OTTB mare is so comfortable and happy in her new bit! It’s wonderful that she’s now relaxed, accepting contact, and enjoying her rides. Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt review and recommendation!
