The ComfortShape Full Cheek reimagines the Waterford concept through a comfort-first lens while leveraging the directional aid and lateral stability of traditional full cheeks. This innovative 12mm design features a smoothed multi-link mouthpiece paired with our fixed-arm full cheek structure, making it especially suitable for horses that need encouragement through the turns while also benefiting from reduced movement in the mouth.

Our refined German silver multi-link system features contoured, rounded segments that gently discourage leaning while dispersing pressure across a broader area than traditional Waterfords. The slimmer 12mm diameter is a smart choice for horses with limited vertical room in the mouth due to thick tongues or low palates, providing clarity without bulk.

The full cheek’s fixed lateral arms offer excellent steering support and help prevent bit migration - ideal for experienced horses that benefit from a steadier signal. When used with keepers, the bit becomes even more stable, promoting consistent positioning and reducing internal movement.

Crafted from German silver (a copper-nickel-zinc alloy), the mouthpiece quickly warms to mouth temperature and develops a mild taste that some horses find inviting, enhancing acceptance and relaxation.

ComfortShape Mouthpiece

Our multi-link Waterford in a more compact design features carefully contoured, rounded segments that discourage leaning while distributing pressure more evenly than traditional Waterford designs. The 12mm diameter makes this mouthpiece especially suitable for horses with limited space between tongue and palate who still need help staying light in the contact.

Full Cheek Cheekpiece

The Full Cheek Bit is designed to provide lateral stability and precise steering, making it ideal for young or green horses, as well as those needing extra guidance. The extended cheeks prevent the bit from sliding through the mouth, enhancing rein aids for better directional control. It can be used with or without keepers. When used with keepers, it maintains a more fixed position, while without keepers, it allows more movement in the mouth. As a direct-action bit, it does not apply poll pressure, making it a suitable choice for horses that respond best to clear and consistent rein aids.

German Silver

German silver is a copper-rich alloy made of nickel, copper, and zinc that promotes salivation and offers a warm feel in the mouth. It is more resistant to oxidation than sweet iron but still encourages bit acceptance due to its composition. While it does not rust, it may tarnish over time. To maintain it, clean with warm water and mild soap after each use, avoid harsh abrasives to preserve the finish, and polish occasionally to prevent discoloration.
