The CalmBlue 16mm dressage snaffle features our innovative tongue relief design in a thicker, more traditional diameter that many horses find confidence-inspiring. This USEF/FEI legal version maintains the signature anatomical shaping that has made the CalmBlue line so popular, while offering more surface area for horses that prefer a fuller mouthpiece.

The barrel-style center allows independent movement of the cannons while redistributing pressure more evenly across the tongue compared to traditional link designs. The 16mm thickness provides excellent stability while the anatomical curvature ensures comfort.

Crafted in sweet iron with our signature blue coating, this bit naturally oxidizes to create a pleasant taste that encourages acceptance. The fixed copper inlay in the barrel (non-rotating to ensure competition legality) adds to the appealing taste profile while maintaining USEF/FEI compliance.

The eggbutt cheeks provide the perfect balance of stability and subtle communication - ideal for young horses or those transitioning from thicker starter bits into more refined contact.

Note: Sweet iron bits naturally oxidize over time, with the blue coating developing a brown/grey patina. This process releases the pleasant taste many horses prefer.

CalmBlue Mouthpiece

The CalmBlue Dressage mouthpiece version features an innovative tapered design that combines FEI/EC compliance with the U shaped tongue relief design. The mouthpiece maintains 12mm diameter at the cheeks to meet international competition requirements while tapering to 10mm in the center - perfect for horses needing more tongue space.

Eggbutt Cheekpiece

Eggbutt cheekpiece is a simple cheekpiece without leverage. It provides more stability than loose ring bits, which often makes it a great choice for young horses still learning, more sensitive and reactive horses and riders with less experienced hands.

Sweet Iron

Sweet iron is a blue iron alloy designed to oxidize over time, creating a sweet taste that encourages salivation. As it rusts, it develops a patina that enhances flavor, which many horses find appealing. While sweet iron promotes a moist mouth, it does wear over time and requires maintenance. To care for it, wipe the bit after use to prevent excessive rust buildup, store it in a dry place when not in use, and scrub gently with a cloth or mild abrasive if excessive rust forms.
