CalmBlue Eggbutt Snaffle
The shape, the material and the features of the CalmBlue tongue relief mouthpiece are all centered around creating acceptance, calmness and enhanced communication while minimising any unnecessary pressure.
The Calmblue mouthpiece shape encourages free movement of the tongue and redistributes pressure away from the center of the tongue that many bits with classic link designs create.
The bars of the bit move independently to create a precision in communication between the rider and the horse. The movement of the bars in this bit approximately correspond to a level 1-2 mouthpiece of similar bits from other brands.
The CalmBlue mouthpiece is made of sweet iron which releases a sweet taste as it gets in contact with saliva that many horses prefer.
The copper roller on the barrel allows the bit to glide up and down the tongue as reins are engaged more freely without creating additional pressure points.
Eggbutt cheekpieces are often preferred by young horses or those who require more stability in mouth than the loose ring offers.
A simple bit, it often is a good starting piece for a young horse who is beginning their training.

Please note that sweet iron bits oxidise naturally and the blue parts will over time develop a thin layer of rust and turn brown/grey. This is by design as the "rust" is what creates the taste so many horses love.

My young partners arab struggled with bit issues. I have tried an array of bits that she was very unhappy in until I came across this style and size.i bought one like this off another website only a 5inch and she accepted it happily..it was evident she needed a bit smaller one..and hére it is! She couldn't be happier and neither am I.

Amazing. I bought this on a whim as I had recently had a few frustrating rides on my 22 year old warmblood whom I’ve been riding for 15 years. He’s always been sensitive in the mouth, unstable in the contact. Fussy. I have always ridden him in a double jointed snaffle with a lozenge, thinking it was the go to for acceptance.
When he gets behind the bit and reluctant to go forward into contact working him in a gentle hackamore has been my go to. This more solid mouthpiece is never something I “thought” he’d like. I’ve had 4 rides in it now and he just keeps feeling better. He’s so willing to stretch and feels so soft! My half halts aren’t being met with resistance. I love riding my old horse again!
